No way. I was pointing your work out to people and everyone commented on how poor it was that it was hung there. That was just ridiculous. I did love seeing it in person though :)
Thanks alex. It really ruined my evening. The whole event has not been a terribly good experince. I was so excited too :( Was so cool to see your new one. didnt realise how small the frog is heh. My freinds loved your Lioness piece(Pride was it called?)
Sounds like you didnt get a very good display area? I'm the queen of unnoticed so I wanted to comment. I had one of my first art shows in a house-turned-cafe and they were working on their 2nd floor. They said my work will be up there among others. What ended up happening? Only my work was hung up there, and since there was nothing upstairs besides my work on a single wall, people didnt wanna go up the stairs to look at some art of an artist they've never heard of.
Don't feel bad, the display system could have been badly planned like mine and you ended up in a bad spot. Your work is wonderful and it was just a coincidence. Luck seems to play in a lot of things so better luck next time!
Couldn't make it to anything today. I've had to make up for all the work I missed doing yesterday when I went to the forum! It'll be a late one tonight I think... Zzz...
You had some stuff in the small works show at BSG didn't you? I've heard they're having a small boards show later this year, so I'll let you know about that, and any other group shows that I hear of, where they will display your artwork much better than they did at Kiln!
I was glad to see your fennec keeping my gorilla company though... Funny, I thought people liked to view artwork at eye level, not feet-level.
Ha, i looked for someone gibbering in the corner though, and I couldn't see anyone!
Lexy: heh yeah my gibbering turned to ranting outside. I tried to talk to Dannoell so she could point you out, but she was always busy so.. Definitely let me know about those sorts of things and I'll do the same. You might like to get in touch with the girls at gallery 696 in melbourne. They have group shows now and then and I think much more the kind of crowd that would be into your work. www.696.com.au/
Tanya: That sound terrible, having your work cloistered away where folks wont see them. Ive had a look at your work and its so sad to hear people didnt get a chance to see it in person. :( I know Im overreacting. I just have to think of it as an learning experience
I love to paint. Its what keeps me sane. I love traveling and taking photos, both are expensive interests unfortunately. I did a bachelor of arts, majoring in philosophy and ethics. Spent a year at TAFE doing visual arts but left. Im considering going back to study, but cant decide.
Im really trying to push my painting and would love the opportunity to exhibit, though the scene here in Brisbane is a little small and hard to get into :(
